Melissa Lewis!
Melissa Lewis is a distinguished CA Level 2 Cricket Coach renowned for her extensive experience and exceptional contributions to the female cricket landscape across various levels. With a passion for mentoring players and coaches alike, Melissa has left an indelible mark on the cricketing community through her dedication and expertise. As the former Junior Director of Coaching (Female) at both SEQ Cricket and Gold Coast Junior Cricket, Melissa spearheaded the regional representative programs for girls, ensuring elite coaching aligned with National and State philosophies. Her role involved designing, supporting, delivering, and reviewing coaching programs for junior female players aged 10-15, thus facilitating sustainable performance at the highest levels.
At Cricket Ipswich, Melissa served as Director of Cricket and Head Coach, overseeing both senior women's premier and junior girls premier teams. Her leadership led to two premierships in the 2023-2024 season, with over ten players gaining selection in QLD youth and school girls teams.
Melissa's commitment to grassroots development is evident in her volunteer role as Director of Girls Cricket at Mudgeeraba/Nerang DCC, where she established a thriving program and pathway for community cricket. She fosters an environment conducive to player growth through mentorship, training, and a focus on fun and excitement.
Melissa's coaching journey extends to various clubs and initiatives, including her tenure as Head Coach at South Brisbane DCC, where she achieved two premierships within two years. Her involvement with Century Cricket Competitions as the Gold Coast Waveriders Female Head Coach demonstrates her commitment to expanding the women's cricket landscape beyond premier cricket.
Notably, Melissa's dedication to inclusivity shines through her work as a Satellite Coach for the CA Intellectual Disability Team, where she developed tailored training sessions during the Covid pandemic. Her efforts ensured that players with varying degrees of Autism received optimal coaching and support.
Throughout a career that has spanned over two decades, Melissa has been deeply involved in pathway development, both as coach and a player. Her impact resonates across all levels of the sport, from grassroots initiatives to elite competitions, making her a respected figure in the cricketing community.
